Turning Seriousness Into Play

When we look at the world through the eyes of children everything is an adventure, a grand opportunity to play, to learn, to get lost in wonder and delight. So many of us have lost touch with this lightness. We take life seriously. We put pressure on ourselves and create stakes that are so high that there’s no room to fail, and in this there is no room to try either. We get stuck in the same old same old. Going through the motions with a subtle underlying dissatisfaction with life. 🌜
This seriousness is the ego’s way of displaying fake professionalism. Fake power. A fake belief that we’re good enough. It screams, look how accomplished & capable I am cause I’m serious about it. It’s bullshit right? The new way is humility. It’s connection. Its vulnerability. It’s fun. It’s play. The new way says you can be both professional and child-like. You can get stuff done and also have fun along the way.
✌🏼
Notice when someone asks you how you are, and you reply same old same old. Why aren’t you trying anything new? Why haven’t you taken today by the balls and created some fun or difference from yesterday. What beliefs are keeping you stuck?

Have the courage and try something new and approach life like a child would. It could be mixing up your coffee order, starting a conversation with a stranger, trying that new exercise class, stopping to pick a flower from a garden or going exploring somewhere new on a Sunday.
